INFOMAR — the national seabed survey by Geological Survey Ireland and the Marine Institute — has charted 700,000 km² of Irish waters over two decades. That's eight times the country's land area. Most boaters have never seen it. Maranox turns that survey into offline charts on your phone — depth, ground type, 608 shipwrecks, every pier and harbour — plus a full GPS plotter with tracks, routes, MOB and fishing marks.
Offline. On the phone you already own. Whether you're fishing, cruising, sailing, diving or paddling — if you float in Irish waters, you'll use this.
Who it's for
Global chart apps treat Ireland like a footnote. Maranox is built here, for here. Whatever takes you out on the water, you'll see it under you before it matters.
Sediment shows rock for pollock, clean sand for flatties. Find the right ground first time — stop losing gear.
Stop burning petrol guessing where fish sit. Find the drop-offs, the rocky edges, the sand banks — in minutes.
Know exactly how much water you have. Don't let a falling tide become a Coast Guard call or a hull repair bill.
MOB button, offline nav, route planner. The safety kit you can hand to your teenager when they take it out.
Get home when the wind turns. GPS track back, hazard marks, MOB — no signal needed, ever.
608 Irish shipwrecks with GPS, seabed type around every wreck, depth contours for dive planning. See the wreck data ↓
Turn any phone or tablet into a chart plotter. Teach on INFOMAR-grade data — without the €800 price tag of dedicated hardware.
Currach, gig, or skiff — tracks, marks, and safety tools for clubs on every Irish coast.
INFOMAR Survey Data
INFOMAR is the most detailed seabed survey of Ireland ever made — twenty years of sonar data from the Geological Survey and Marine Institute. Depth. Ground type. Contour lines down to the metre. It's the best marine data available for these waters, and Maranox puts the whole thing in your pocket.
Colour-coded depth and contour lines around the full Irish coast. The kind of detail a yacht skipper uses to avoid a bar and an angler uses to find a drop-off — same data, both jobs.
Not just how deep — what the bottom is made of. Mud, sand, gravel, rock, or mixed. Matters whether you're shooting gear, anchoring for the night, planning a dive, or picking a wreck.
Slide between sediment colours and depth contours. See where sand meets rock, where the ground drops off, where the good tows are. All in one view.
Download the charts once on Wi-Fi. At sea, everything loads from your phone — no internet, no buffering, no signal needed. Mount a tablet in the wheelhouse and you've got a chart plotter.
Shipwrecks & Diving
Geological Survey Ireland catalogued every known wreck in Irish waters. Maranox puts them all on the chart — with the seabed data a dive skipper actually needs to plan the dive.
Wreck position over INFOMAR bathymetry — see the depth, the contours around it, and the terrain the wreck sits on.
Rock, sand, mud or mixed — the sediment layer shows what's around the wreck so you know what visibility and conditions to expect.
Drop marks on your favourite spots — reefs, walls, scenic dives, drift routes. Saved on your phone, always there.
All 608 wrecks are bundled in the app. Seabed charts download once. Works 50 miles offshore.
Tools
Marks, tracks, routes, safety.
Long-press to drop a mark — dive sites, fishing spots, anchorages, hazards. Categorise and find them again.
Record your tracks and log catches. Species, weight, location. Browse by week.
Tap A, tap B. Finds a route around land with distance.
Long-press MOB. Drops a GPS marker. Every second counts.
Dark tiles for the wheelhouse at night. Saves your night vision.
